First of all I wish to say thanks to
you guys who had used so much time in
putting this great mag together. The
article about the Motorola chip was
very exiting and all the jokes about
blonds - what a laugh. I can see know
why Kurt (RVC Norway) asked me if my
wife was a blond.....
The SHI-organization is basicly
build on friendship. We are a
usergroup with more than 600 members,
who have a "shared" perception of the
posibilities to "explore" the ways of
our beloved Amiga. Our aims should be
known by every one, but if otherwise:
@2 TO FIGHT THE
SPREADING
OF VIRUS.
@1For about three weeks ago Erik - yes,
SHI's grand ol' man and founder of the
organization - and I was informed that
the previous members of the Danish RVC
wishes to quit. Therefore we had to
seek new members to keep the center
running.
Erik knew a guy - @2Jan Andersen@1, who
lives quite near my own place. I had
have a wish to join the center for a
long time, but didn't felt that I could
be useful if we couldn't meet once or
twice in a week.
@2NOTE: The adress to SHI-DANMARK is:

@2- and not at my adress (my fault sorry)
as mentioned in the 2nd release of
RESIDENT MAGAZINE.
@1So.. After we had "set up" Jan, I
contacted him and get a meeting
arranged and suddenly things begun to
move fast. A lot of textfiles had to
be rewritten and updated, we spend lots
of hours in "designing" the disks -
infact there are quite a few disks to
keep updated.
But, newer the less, in a few weeks the
disks were completely redesigned - NO
MORE CHEESE EATING MICES !!! (just
kidding!).
However, our friendship startet
"around" the Amiga and grew rapidly in
to a strong teamwork, where we could
combine our experiences in almost every
task we had to fulfill. If one of us
couldn't figure out a way to accomplish
a task, then the other could etc...
infact we learn from one another.
Teamwork also means - like
friendship - that one has to be
responsible for one another and there
is no such thing as feeling motivated
from teamwork to do a job. As Sales
Manager I have a lot of letters to
write and boy, its great to get news
from people I can - maybe - meet once
during a lifetime.
I recieve news from almost every
part of the world, like news from our
Croatian RVC and how Tomislav and his
family must seek cover from being
bombed or shot at all the time. From
USA, where Jim and Michael resides and
"scares off" the entire continent with
great articles - by the way Jim, thanks
for mentioning my name in Amiga World
and - of cause - from Norway where Kurt
and Helge are doing a great job in
keeping the users "to the fire" and
from Ireland where Anthony is getting a
god "grab" on the market - he actually
visit me in early April - boy, we had
some fun and.... the list is ENDLESS.
Specific for the RVC's: I can also
feel that the members of the RVC's is a
"bunch" of users that came to an equal
decision that the Amiga can be used to
other things than game playing and
programming. They all wish to TEAM UP
and FIGHT the virals. Its not a matter
of being an "Amiga genius" to be a
member of a RVC or SHI, but if you can:
Code in C or Assembler
Write articles
Translate
Do the "DTP-magic"
- then call us and offer your
assistance.
@2NOTE:@1 If YOU find a new virus, then
send it to the nearest RVC or directly
to Erik - DON'T delete it - you can
help other users !! The organization
isn't farther away than the nearest
mailbox. In return you will get a copy
of the latest update of "THE NEW
SUPERKILLER" for @2FREE@1.
One thing about mailing virus to SHI:
We DON'T care WHAT program or disk the
virus is on - just remember to mark the
disk as VIRUS - take care of our
computers. The important thing is the
virus. If you want to be anonymous
then state it, all names will be
"forgotten" unless you want otherwise,
you can always rely on us - no more
questions. But if you want an update
in return, we need an adress to mail it
to
This update always contains the latest
and very best PD anti virus programs
and I can just say this about the
programmers:
@2 IT'S INCREDIBLE,
HOW MUCH,
SO FEW,
CAN DO FOR SO MANY@1
@1My best wishes goes to those
programmers and if you use the anti
virus programs on a regular basis, then
please pay 6-8 US$ to the programmers
from time to time. I'm quite sure that
they will be happy to see a little
money for their - very often -
thousands of hours of work.
@3Ed: Hi Lars (and thank you for the
very nice article!), your questions is
moved to the Mailbox section, see you
there.
@1ATT: FAST.
SHI are @ANOT@A distributing ANY commercial
software - ONLY PD, shareware and
freeware.
Commercial software is INDEED too
expensive and I'm sure that the sales
would increase a lot, if the prizes
were lowered. Most developing of a new
program is concerned to the copy
protection and not the program itself.
If people could buy software to - say -
half of todays prizes it might very
well multiply the sales four times. On
the other hand, if software wasn't so
easy to get, the computers wouldn't
have spread in the numbers they are
today. Confused - oh no - just common
marked situation....
I think that's all for know. "Res" -
may I on the behalf of Safe Hex
International, give you our best wishes
for the future and good luck. @3(thank
you very much! .Ed)
